Dream Holidays at the LUX Grand Gaube, Mauritius

If you’ve been following my Instagram account or my YouTube channel, you would have seen that I’ve been frolickin in the turquoise oceans of Mauritius. Our first trip to any island destination, never mind Mauritius has been exquisite thanks to our gracious hosts; the Lux Grand Gaube. Truly a screensaver dream holiday come true! The list of activities in Mauritius that we enjoyed both at the hotel and on the actual island is vast, but let’s start at the very beginning with our days at the hotel.

Hotel Sweet Home

The Lux Grand Gaube is nettled in the northern shore line of Mauritius. Flanked by the popular tourist destination, Grand Baie, this beautifully hidden hotel reveals itself through a long, palm tree lined avenue before the bright blue oceans rise from the hotel lobby entrance.

The newly renovated hotel boasts a fresh, timeless elegance while seamlessly integrating nature from the outside, in. Rich light blue, cool grey, crisp white and palm green are the colours of the day. Cross the water flanked bridge under the alabaster trusses and enter a portrait of a dream come true, the 5 star LUX Grand Gaube.

Rest Your Head

Enjoy an ice cold drink and cool towel on arrival (or tuck into the cafe wares of the LUX Grand Gaube in the reception) before being chaperoned to your room. Not sure which room to choose? The hotel has a variety on offer from 21 romantic junior suites or private villas. Your holiday, you choose.

How To Pass the Time

Before you can even get your mouth watering at one of the hotel’s 4 premium restaurants, work up an appetite at the hotels on site activities. My first concern was, “How interesting can a beach be for 5 days?” Very interesting I can tell you! The hotel offers a number of sporting activities including tennis, golf or swimming in one of the hotel’s many outdoor pools as well as a fully equipped gym.

Outside activities include star gazing, snorkeling, kayaking and supping. And if being active isn’t your bag, relax or be pampered in the hotel spa or hair salon. There truly is something for everyone at the LUX Grand Gaube.

Work Off That Appetite

With a myriad of activities at the resort, there’s nothing better than ending off the day with a crisp glass of wine and a full tummy. The LUX Grand Gaube tenders 5 restaurants with 5 different cuisines. Inti offers modern Peruvian fare, Bodrum Blue offers new Turkish cuisine. The Creole Smokehouse offers local smoked creole inspired food. The Palm Court hosts the breakfast and dinner buffets and the Beach Rouge offers nouvelle cuisine. (Our favourites were the Palm Court and Beach Rouge, but Inti had the best coriander ice cream I’ve ever had and the mezze starters at Bodrum were out of this world!).

The LUX Grand Gaube makes a long day at the beach feel like a quick snap of the fingers. With so much to see and do, staying for 4 nights may serve you well…staying forever would be ideal.
