Those who are close to me have certainly heard my 2 cents on the Octopus Teacher. And while I’m not a fan of the documentary, I still respect the work of the South African cast and Netflix who showcased South Africa. A little more close to home, a few acquaintances created a Dog of Life, which was a joy to watch and showcased South Africa in all its glory.
These are just two examples of South African content on Netflix, which is on the rise and is proving to be a valuable tool in driving tourism. So much so that Netflix recently announced the launch of the Made in South Africa content collection – a curated collection featuring over 80 South African films, series, documentaries and reality TV shows created by some of the country’s most prolific talent both behind and in front of the camera.
