Pizza Specials in Cape Town

I’d like to say this is a winter thing, but I’d be lying. I love pizza – even though I’m gluten intolerant. Yes, I’ve tried many alternatives, but gluten-free pizza just isn’t worth eating. No one’s going to argue about the delectability of this Italian staple, it’s a classic for a reason. So here’s our collection of the best pizza specials in Cape Town:

*If there’s a star – we love it!

Town

Pizzasaurus

This isn’t one we’ve been to (but the name is catchy enough to recall!). Pizzasaurus offers a variety of pizzas including vegan and gluten-free options. Their specials include:

Pizza Shed *

There’s a branch in Bree Street, which is a convenient lunch spot and a store in Observatory which has epic rooftop views, great drink specials and delicious pizza.

Their pizza is absolutely divine, Napolitana style (puffy crust, thin base with a delicious napolitana sauce). Their special include:

Mondays to Fridays (12pm to 3pm) for sit down or take away: Margherita with truffle, pepperoni and Hot Honey for just R100.

Where: Town and Observatory

Aperitif *

So Aperitif isn’t exactly a pizza restaurant (and it’s close to the Bree Street Pizza Shed), but they have the most divine “pizza sandwiches” so to speak, which are basically like a sandwich calzone.

We had the Amalfi with prosciutto, fior di latte, heirloom tomatoes, basil. malden salt and a drizzle of olive oil and it was DIVINE! PLUS, it was only R90!? Their price of their specials change depending on the ingredients but can be around:

Butlers Pizza *

Some days you just want to vrot (rot) on the couch, eat gooey pizza, watch a movie or feel sorry for yourself (either/and/or). For us, the best take away pizza is from Butler’s Pizza.

They’re a chain of dark kitchens who have consistently been feeding Cape Town for over 25 years. My favourites are the Funky Fabb, Smog, Caribbean (yay pineapple!), Doug’s Dynamite and Hawaiian. Their specials include:

  • Mondays: Buy 2 get 3rd, cheapest one free.

Pizza Chains

While we prefer to support small or independant businesses, we do understand that chains offer a certain level of service and affordability. For these reasons, we have included the following specials:

Col Caccio’s

  • Where: All across Cape Town and the Winelands
  • Mondays: Buy 2 regular margherita pizzas and get a third free.
  • Tuesdays: 3 for 2 Tuesday Trio’s on pizzas and pasta’s. Buy 3 get the cheapest 1 free.
  • Mondays to Fridays: Until 4pm daily, enjoy a pizza, pasta or salad with a drink for R119.
  • T’s & C’s: available at most, but selected stores. Check the Col Caccio’s website.

Side Note: Independent Pizza Restaurants

Unfortunately, not all the best pizza places in Cape Town offer a special, but we thought we’d mention them anyway as it’s good to support local and the quality is often worth the full price. In fact, 50% of our favourite pizza restaurants on are this list! We’ve included a star* for our favourite restaurants and hope this helps.

Borruso’s Pizza *

Sorry! This one’s only in the ‘burbs. But Borruso’s has been going for almost as long as Butler’s and it’s a restaurant worth mentioning. It’s a restaurant tucked away off Kenilworth Main Road with a cosy interior and hidden exterior and offers the most delicious pizza and lasagne. I love the Adam’s Special with brie and pear, but their regular pizzas are delicious too.

BACINNI’S *

We love Bacini’s on Kloof as it’s easy to park and the views of Lion’s Head are gorgeous. It’s family run and you can feel the attention to detail and quality of produce in every bite.

WOODLANDS EATERY

This is a favourite in the Gardens with residents of Vredehoek, Gardens and Oranjezicht consistently supporting this duplex Italian restaurants. Find them in town for an array of tasty pizzas and Italian dishes.

I Love the Dough

This vibrant, live DJ come pizza shop I Love the Dough started in Bree street and immediately took off in the city.

The pandemic didn’t help but since then I Love the Dough has expanded to Joburg and is a really vibrant, fun pizza spot for tunes, drinks and foodies.

POSTICINOS

Posticino’s was first loved in Sea Point and has expanded to a few stores in recent years. We’ve often have the southern suburbs x town fight about the best pizza and Posticino’s was a first favourite of the town crew.

Nonna Lina

Nonna Lina focuses on their Sicilian heritage and has been in Cape Town for 21 years as of 2024! They’re in the gardens and is a popular corner Italian restaurant. Find it on Orange Street.

Bardelli’s

Another Cape Town institution in the Southern Suburbs. Tucked around the corner from Fat Harry’s in Kenilworth, Bardelli’s is a long time favourite Italian restaurant serving fresh pizzas.

I hope this list really helps you enjoy the best pizza the Mother City has to offer!
