Finally a Waygu Burger We Like! Zuney Wagyu Burger
Zuney Wagyu Burger is one of Cape Town’s latest burger joints and we couldn’t wait to pop out to try it.
Parking in the Lifestyle Centre opposite (to avoid trying to park in the bustle of Kloof street), was a great way to access the restaurant – however, they shut the mall doors at 8pm so you have to walk down the car ramp to access your vehicle instead of using the mall lift/stairs.
Anyway – back to Zuney! Arriving, we hung around the bar while waiting for our friends to arrive. Unfortunately, a large table who had finished their food decided to stay on and have a few pints, meaning we weren’t all able to sit together.
This was no big deal though as the restaurant is really small and turns over quickly (including ourselves).
Ordering our wagyu burgers (that’s the speciality on the menu from cows farmed in the Eastern Cape), we removed the onions (no one needs onion breath at the jol) and waited our turn.
The food arrived in customised boxes, really neat and cute with double cooked fries. Firstly, the fries were out of this world! They tasted by the fries in London from back in the day. Texture, flavour, seasoning, divine.
“Zuney Wagyu was born of the radical belief that there is a connection between how food is raised and prepared, and how it tastes. Real is better. Better for You, Better for People, Better for Our Planet. It may be the hard way to do things, but itโs the right way. Zuney is committed to using only our own ethically raised wagyu beef.”

As for the burgers – we’re not actually the biggest wagyu beef fans as it can have a bit of a soapy taste. We were also concerned about how big the portion would be as we were heading out afterwards and didn’t want to be too full.
But the burger size, seasoning, texture and flavour were all 10/10, giving Clarke’s (our favourite burger) a decent run for its money. It’s small but it packs a mighty punch and is the perfect pre-rave dinner. My cheeseburger and fries were just under R200.
