Purple Edges at Lavender Farm Guest House

Franschhoek

  • Next

The vibrant field of lavender is so beautiful in the morning light. Lavender Farm Guest House is located on the outskirts of famous culinary and wine town, Franschhoek. Just 90 minutes outside Cape Town, South Africa, this is the perfect location for couples, groups of friends or extended families to enjoy a weekend away in the wine valley.

Mr John and I joined our friends for a night away at the beautiful venue, had an absolute blast in Franschhoek and had a lovely stay at the farm.

Lavender Farm Guest House Accommodation Options

The Lavender Farm Guest House offers space for up to 28 guests, spread across a number of room types including honeymoon suites, lavender field view suites, regular suites and manor suites. The bulk of the rooms surround the central lawn, rolling towards the lavender fields. We stayed in a honeymoon suite near reception.

We arrived early (check-in is only at 2pm) and entered our room before it was fully prepared for us. We were warned, but wanted to leave our bags in the room and not in the car while on the wine tram. Having seen the before and after, I can vouch that our suite was SPOTLESS. There were no traces of past guests, a MUST for me.

As a vlogger and photographer, it’s important to us to have enough space for our technology to be laid out in an efficient setup. Our Lavender Farm Farm suite had a large coffee table and a desk which became our charging station. Unfortunately, there were no plug points next to the bed so if you have sleep apnea this may be a challenge.

Thankfully the bed was king-sized which guaranteed a great night’s sleep. We’re tall and big people so double beds no longer really suffice for us and we can give the bed 5/5 at Lavender Farm Guest House.

Lavender Farm Guest House Experience

The honeymoon suites at Lavender Farm Guest House offer many conveniences. There is a welcome book/manual with information about the venue, which I always enjoy because it give extra information like breakfast hours, wifi code, etc.

The room included tea and coffee facilities, a large “stretcher” to put our luggage on, a large TV unit with a remote control (that worked) as well as a shower, but no bath. There was also a safe discretely placed inside the bedroom cupboard.

Garden chairs and benches offer a resting place in communal areas, with lights swinging in the trees. The pathways are also lit and covered which is useful during the winter months. Pathways are also tiled for easy suitcase transportation.

The pool is also a pretty feature of the hotel. Laid outside the reception, pool chairs line the turquoise grey. I’m sure this is wonderful during summer. There is also a dam at the back (front?!) of the property that offers the most beautiful sunsets, WOW!

Final Thoughts

The hotel breakfast is also a good breakfast spread with delicious cooked breakfasts. The staff were friendly, attentive and well trained which made having any queries solved easily.

Lavender Farm is a wonderful place to stay because it has been constructed in a thoughtful manner. For example, wild sage lines the gardens and cottages not lavender. I love this as the smell of lavender can become quite overwhelming. This way, the purple “feeling” of lavender is reinforced without overwhelming guests.

I’d happily return to the Lavender Farm. Prices start from R1325 per room (single) or R2800 per room (double) per night, depending on low/high season. Children under 2 stay for free, while children aged 3 – 18 are at an additional R275 fee.

Send an enquiry form through the Lavender Farm Guest House website, mail info@ldf.co.za or call them on +27 21 876 2671.

Thank you to Lavender Farm Guest House for having us!
